mEETING Of jDPC Directors' / Stateholders Meeting

The event of the JDPC Director’s Stakeholders’ Meeting for year 2022 was slated for the 10th  to the 13th of May, 2022. The Meeting took place at the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria Resource Centre, Abuja. 

The first day, 10th of May, was scheduled for the Arrival and Registration of Stakeholders, and stakeholders lodged at the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria Resource Centre. 

On the day 2, Wednesday, 11th of May, the event commenced by 6:15am with the morning Mass at the chapel of the same venue. During the meeting, Rev. Fr. Dr. Uchechukwu Obodochina gave the welcome address by welcoming the various stakeholders to the meeting. He thank God for a safe trip to the event and hoped for fruitful deliberations.

His Lordship, Bishop Matthew Kukah, also gave his remarks on the timeliness of the directors’ meeting in view of the forthcoming elections and role of the JDPC members across the nation to engage in voters’ sensitization and be informed on the guides on the electoral act.

 During the meeting, several presentations were made by key speakers, consultants and directors, who delved into the areas of preparation of the 2023 Elections in view of the recent document of the Simplified Citizen’s Guide/Handbook on the Electoral Act 2022.

Other activities that took place during the meeting include break out sessions for group work and presentation for stakeholders mapping, plenary discussions amongst other activities.

  2. JDPC Mission – Vision – Driven Strategy
  3. Vademecum and CST in Nigeria

The meeting also accommodated other discussions and topics covering how JDPC Directorates could harness the opportunities available to apply for grants from local and international bodies. Furtthermore, a representative from Catholics in Action came to brief the house on the need for the JDPCs to collaborate with the body and ensure we prepare more Catholics for governance. At the end of the training, the Head of the National Secretariat of the JDPC, appreciated everyone for coming and the success achieved during the meeting. he beckoned on the newly elected directors to stay back for one more day for briefing and training on the activities and procedures required of their office as JDPC Directors in their dioceses. The event came to a close with a closing prayer by Rev. Fr. Peter Babangida at about 6:00pm.
